Hits and Misses

Hits:

One of my first "hits" was probably the Human Nature blog we had to do in the second quarter.  I believe that this post demonstrated some of my strengths of writing. I felt good about this post because of its flow and the way that everything was tied together.

I believe that humans are not always intended to be good or to be bad. To me, humans are full of possibility. People always surprise me no matter who they are. No one has a set way of living. No person can live a life in one way. You can't be completely good or completely bad in your life. There is always a mix. This is why I say humans are full of possibility. You never can say exactly what people are going to do next. Someone could do the nicest thing, then a week later that person could be in jail. You never know. Just like in Lord of the Flies, we cannot predict what they will do to survive for who knows how long. Life is a possibility just like humans.
I came to believe this through religion. Humans are not perfect, and therefore, they make mistakes in their life. Someone can't say that they will be good their whole life because eventually, they will make one bad mistake. Also, I believe that humans do not have a set way to live by any supernatural figure or person. I think that God knows what you will do in the future, but I do not believe that he sets one way for someone to live. This is why I believe humans are full of possibility.

Another one of my "hits" was the Research Paper. This paper was fun to write because of all the things I learned during research. The Research Paper was also very easy to write because of all the work put into it beforehand to help make the final product perfect. I was genuinely pleased and proud of this paper.

The name of my Paper was "Resistance in World War II." This mainly focused on the effects of the French Resistance on the war as well as the Polish resistance. Some of the key events that I brought up were: sabotage, military action, and intelligence. Resistance movements were significant during D-Day, and when helping Allies to plan attacks. Rebellious groups cut off supply lines. This kept troops, weapons, and even medicine from getting to the troops. Resistance fighters even assassinated Nazi-Officials. All of these actions taken by people in World War II affected the outcome of the war.

Earlier this quarter we had to read a political news story and write two paragraphs about it. I found a current article (at the time) that talked about Republicans trying to dispose of ObamaCare. I enjoyed writing the blog post because for a while I have not been watching the news, especially about the government. It was nice to read a current news article to understand some issues happening in the world around me.

Ever since the Affordable Care Act was signed into law by President Obama, Republicans have wanted it repealed. Last week the Republicans tried to get rid of and replace ObamaCare. Originally, Congress was scheduled to vote on Thursday on the ObamaCare replacement, but this vote was postponed until Friday. On Friday, Republicans pulled the bill because they knew they didn't have enough votes to pass. President Trump blamed the Democrats because not one Democratic Congressman would have voted to pass the bill. This article provides more information regarding the postponed vote, but this is an overview of the article.

I believe that it is not fair for the Democrats to be solely blamed for this, but I also do not believe that it is right for none of the Democrats to vote on the bill simply because it was passed by President Obama. It would be helpful to understand more about the Affordable Care Act, and its pros and cons, to better understand the rationale by both parties.  I chose this article to highlight one of the many disagreements between the two political parties. Because I wanted to focus on a newer report with current news. I found several articles about this topic, but I preferred this Fox News article over the other sources that I found.

Misses:

One of my misses this year was the Personal Narrative we had to do. I struggled when making this paper because I could not decide on one short event that I could tell so well that it could make the reader actually feel in that situation. I feel like this paper could have been much better.

Another one of my misses was the Song Analysis blog post that we had to do. I am not a big fan of poetry, making this assignment even harder. I had trouble at the beginning choosing a song that I could actually analyze. Even when I did find a song, I had trouble finding important techniques used by the artist.

There was another blog post this year that I believe was a miss for me. This post was the Vocab Word Story. I had done vocabulary.com every week, but I had trouble tying multiple words together to make a story. I finally thought of a story with the vocabulary, but I feel like the quality of this post was not as good as it should have been.
